I am once again gracing the web page with some weekend pictures. \u00a0These were taken in early April at Patriots Point. \u00a0I will confess that I’ve lived in the low country since I was a year old, and this was my first visit. \u00a0It was well worth it to visit the naval museum. \u00a0It did take me several hours to do all the tours on the Yorktown, and there were a couple I just ran through without taking the time to fully absorb what I was seeing. \u00a0A simple lesson I took away from the afternoon is that serving on an aircraft carrier isn’t a job for the claustrophobic. It’s amazing how many things they can put on a ship.<\/p>\n

The more important lesson I took away from the Yorktown is the history associated with it and so many other naval vessels. \u00a0Lives were dependent on them. \u00a0Lives ended on them. \u00a0They were ship of war and also ships of mercy. \u00a0We all bear a responsibility to honor the sacrifices of those who served and make sure those sacrifices were not made in vain.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
