After everything that happened after the family reunion, I was hesitant to share these pictures. I haven't really spent any time looking through them. At some point, I'll be able to do so. Family, if and when you are at that point, the pictures are here for you too. You can see all the pictures by clicking on the Smugmug link at the bottom of the post. Photography on the go
I've traveled all over the state of South Carolina. There have been dozens of times that I've seen an odd or interesting building or yard ornament that I've wanted to photograph. I decided to take the time and actually take a few photos this last weekend while driving back from Myrtle Beach. It's a very small gallery (12 pictures) of some of the things that caught my eye. I think many of them are a last remnant of a different time, and we need to preserve their memory. 2010 SC UMC Annual Conference
I attended Annual Conference again this year. This time I was less of a spectator. I was there to represent Higher Education and Campus Ministry. I did not realize how busy the campus ministers were at conference. Most of their time was spent training the Students in Mission (SIM) workers. While SIM training was taking place, I got to babysit the HECM table and bond with the representatives of the United Methodist colleges and universities in SC. I also ate a lot of cookies. That was the more tame attraction for HECM at conference. Presidents and Vice-Presidents of schools would come … [Read more...]

Snow!
You don't often see snow in the low country of South Carolina. It was a wonderful Friday night and Saturday morning. I think this is the third time I've seen snow in South Carolina since 1989. Every time it has happened, the state effectively closes down for lack of snow clearing equipment and to keep SC drivers off the road. Fortunately, this snow fall happened at a wonderful time. It started on a Friday night, and most of it melted by nightfall on Saturday. The neighborhood kids had a wonderful morning making snowmen and having snowball fights. After playing in it a while, I pulled … [Read more...]
Some of my favorite photos
I decided to create a gallery just for my favorite photos. I'm amazed at the number of photos I've taken over the last few years. It's also nice to look over all the events I've attended. In the next few weeks I hope to add to my portfolio with a set of night shots in downtown Charleston. Dusk and Dark
Photography has long been a hobby of mine. I started learning as a teenager using one of my father's 35mm cameras. Those older camera could last forever, and he actually purchased the camera around the time I was born. Since that time I've grown up and moved on to digital photography, but I still enjoy taking pictures and expanding my abilities. Having fun and learning pretty much sums up this set of pictures. In order to take them, I had to stand out in shopping malls and yards at odd hours with a camera on a tripod. The odd looks from people passing by was almost as interesting as … [Read more...]
