Savannah In Spring

I decided to take a little vacation to Savannah at the end of March.  This time I went for the Savannah Music Festival.  It was well worth the trip.  I went to a concert every evening and spent the morning relaxing or exploring the city.  Savannah is a photographer's dream, and it's great to walk around during spring and fall.  It definitely helped me relax.   This post contains my most recent set of pictures from that lovely southern city.  I hope you enjoy. A few more nice Saturday pictures

This year I've been trying to take a few pictures each week.  I took these pictures in March, but this was my first chance to upload them to a gallery.  I was having a relaxing weekend by eating some nice Cajun food and getting some exercise.  I hope you enjoy. Riverfront Park

It's been a beautiful March in South Carolina.  It was cool last weekend, but it was worth it to get up early and go to the park.  My one semi-resolution for the year is to use my camera more.  Riverfront Park gave me an excellent opportunity. Sumpter Health Clinic Anniversary

On March 3rd I attended the 1st anniversary celebration of the Sumpter Free Health Clinic.  The people and churches of upper Berkeley County worked together to meet a priority need in their community:  health care for those without insurance.  They currently have over 500 patients and a staff of two doctors, 40 nurses and over 100 volunteers.  These are a people who are radically living out their faith by their engagement in their community.  I was blessed to partake in a meal with them and celebrate the good work God is doing in their community. Just Relaxing

South Carolina has been getting some nice weather in February.  I decided to enjoy it with my camera.  I took a few shots around my neighborhood and headed to downtown Charleston later in the day.  I enjoyed myself and came away with some great pictures. Habitat

This last Saturday I spent the morning at a Habitat site.  It was still pretty cold out when we got there at 8am, but it was a wonderful morning.  Several dozen volunteers worked to get trusses on the house, build a shed, and to hammer in a few hundred more nails spaced 6 inches apart.    [smugmug url="http://dpack.smugmug.com/hack/feed.mg?Type=gallery&Data=15842726_xp2gU&format=rss200" imagecount="15" start="1" num="6" thumbsize="Th" link="image" captions="false" sort="false" window="false" smugmug="true" size="L"] … [Read more...]

Visiting Columbia

I was in Columbia the other weekend, and I decided to relax by taking a walk through the Horseshoe with my camera.  It was a wonderful day.  The weather was in the mid 60s.  I wandered around playing with various lenses.  If you look through the entire gallery, you'll even find a few I took with extension tubes of berries and leaves.  It's pretty interesting to look at the world in that type of detail. I attempted a panorama while I was out there.  If it turns out well, I'll post it here too. [smugmug … [Read more...]

More Small Stuff

I didn't have much opportunity to post in January.  Let's hope I have more time in February.  For now at least, I'll upload another gallery dealing with macro photography. A Real Good Samaritan

Welcome to my Christmas day blog post.  It's not even 2pm yet, and I'm exhausted.  It's been a great Christmas though, and it's helped me realize just how busy I've been this year.  For a while now, I wondered if the 'Living Arguments' category of my blog would ever get another article.  I found this article late last night while reading the BBC News.  Writer Bernard Hare shares his experience of a Good Samaritan who helps him reach home to see his dying mother. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-12043294 While reading the article I recognized that most of the actions of the Good … [Read more...]

Jeff Lank, 90th President of the US Junior Chamber

Another highlight of the 3rd Quarter Convention was Jeff Lank.   Jeff is the 90th President of the US Junior Chamber.  His speech centered around encouragement, and he managed to work in an interesting story about geese.  Take a few minutes to listen, and plan on getting out to a convention next year. … [Read more...]
